"Women in Construction Week, is a dedicated time to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in the construction industry. While we’re highlighting these achievements this week, it's essential to remember that their commitment, creativity, and integrity are the driving forces that enhance our industry culture every day. In a traditionally male-dominated field, the presence and empowerment of women not only foster personal growth but also contribute significantly to the overall success of our company. Each of you are leaders and your hard work and perseverance inspire future generations, proving that every woman has a vital role to play. Congratulations to all for your remarkable contributions and simply thank you for making us stronger." - Paul Rieger, President, MRS
We are proud to recognize a few MRS leaders:
Alexa Selby
Meet Alexa, a Signal Engineer in the Littleton office. It is very exciting to see her transition from an intern at MRS to a full-time position, especially as she contributes to the UTA On Call Project. We wish her great success and look forward to seeing her thrive in her new opportunities!
What excites her most about this field is its dynamic nature. “Every day presents a new challenge, and I’m constantly learning and growing. The variety of tasks and the problem-solving aspect make each day engaging and fulfilling,” she says.
Her advice to other women considering a career in this field is simple—be yourself. Carry yourself with confidence, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and seek guidance from others. There is always something new to learn, and asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Trust in your abilities, stay curious, and be open to learning. The industry needs your perspective and talent.
Beth Bombalicky
Beth is a highly regarded Senior Communication Engineer at MRS, known for her exceptional leadership in overseeing communication systems across all projects and maintenance at UTA. Her expertise, extensive knowledge, and dedication to customer support have earned her great respect within the agency, truly embodying the values and culture of MRS.
Beth takes great pride in leading a talented and principled team that values integrity and collaboration. “We overcome obstacles together to deliver innovative solutions,” she says.
Her advice to women aspiring to enter this field is to embrace challenges with confidence, trust in their abilities, and seek out strong networks and mentors who will support their growth and success.
Claire Burkhardt
Claire, a Senior Project Manager for Signals Engineering, joined MRS late last year and brings extensive expertise in design and project management to the team. Currently, she supports projects in Chicago and Charlotte, and her personal industry involvement enriches her contributions. We are thrilled to have her on board to share her knowledge and experiences.
For Claire, the most rewarding part of her work is knowing that she plays a direct role in keeping people safe. That sense of purpose motivates her.
She encourages women considering a career in this field to seek out companies that value their unique viewpoints. While there are more women in the industry now than when she started, they still represent a small percentage of the workforce. Finding the right mentor or champion can make all the difference, and she emphasizes that, “if you don’t have one where you are, don’t be afraid to make a leap to find them.”
Congratulations again to all the women in the industry, your dedication and hard work make us stronger! We are proud to celebrate your contributions and the impact you make every day.
