Project Completion!
The Petaluma North Station Platform is now complete, marking a significant milestone for Sonoma-Marin Area Rail transit (SMART)!
This project involved the furnishing, installation, and testing of signal and crossing equipment for the new station located north of Petaluma. Key accomplishments include implementing three temporary point protection software switches, installing four new signal houses, modifying signal houses at 20 additional locations, and adding 12 new pedestrian gates.
Additionally, MRS conducted a comprehensive 56-hour systems cutover to ensure that all systems were up-to-date and communicating properly. This cutover involved thorough testing and validation of the integrated systems to guarantee seamless and efficient operations once the new station became fully operational.
The new station offers residents and visitors a dependable transportation option, delivering significant benefits to the community. We’re proud to have contributed to improving safety, connectivity, and accessibility in the region.
