Our Work in Practice
As we welcome the New Year, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on the monumental achievements of the past year. We successfully completed several key projects, including Caltrain Electrification, McKalla Station, NICTD Double Track, and the MAX Red Line Extension.
For the Caltrain Electrification project, MRS modified Caltrain’s entire signal, communications, and grade crossing warning systems to enable operation with electric passenger trainsets. We also upgraded the existing system to accommodate an AC Electrified System and integrated it with a Positive Train Control (PTC) System. At McKalla Station, MRS completed all necessary signal and PTC updates and integrations. This included installing communications fiber (both vital and non-vital rings), dynamic message signs, emergency telephones, and security cameras, ensuring a modern, efficient, and safe transit system for Austin’s growing population. The NICTD Double Track project involved designing and testing the signal and communications systems for an electrified system, as well as furnishing and installing the necessary communications infrastructure. For the MAX Red Line Extension, MRS was responsible for designing, installing, and testing the train control system for the Gateway, PDX, and Fairplex segments.
In addition, we made significant strides in preconstruction efforts for the East San Fernando and G Line projects. These are just a few highlights of the impactful work MRS has accomplished this year.
