Tuesday, May 14th marked the culmination of two years of collaboration to provide double tracking for the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD).
Transportation Systems Partners (TSP), a joint venture between Modern Railway Systems and Herzog Technologies, Inc., tackled the signal and communications scope of work.
Several Indiana dignitaries participated in the formal ribbon cutting and re-grand opening of this alignment. Indiana Governor, Eric Holcomb, had the honor of wielding the giant scissors.
NICTD's President, Mike Noland, made it very clear to all in his speech that the Double Track Project was delivered "on time and under budget."
This is an exciting time as the goal of this project was to provide travel for riders from Michigan City Indiana to Chicago Illinois in an hour. This project has already stimulated over $500 million of real estate investment in the cities along the Double Track corridor. This will bring new homes and businesses to an area hungry for growth.
TSP is honored to be a part of this effort. By helping NICTD to update their system technology, we improved crossing safety and operational efficiency. Thank you to all those at MRS who made this important project so successful.
