Lakeline to Leander Double Track
Facilitating CapMetro's operational flexibility.
Facilitating CapMetro's operational flexibility.
This project involved adding 3,350 feet of new siding track and two new signal houses between Lakeline Station and Leander Station.
The system installation scope encompassed the full design of the new signal houses and upgrades to seven adjacent locations. This included installing two new powered M23 switch machines, nine mast-mounted signal platforms, and all internal signal house equipment associated with changes to the Positive Train Control (PTC) system.
The new rail siding and signal system allowed CapMetro to expand revenue service on this segment by creating a zone for passing trains. This infrastructure improvement decreased the limits between control points, providing CapMetro with greater operational flexibility and enhanced maintenance capabilities along their system.
