Forging new paths in transit.
Forging new paths in transit.
This project involved the initial 41-mile operating segment of the new SMART rail system, extending from the Sonoma County airport to downtown San Rafael.
MRS was responsible for procuring and installing the communications and cab signal systems, including integrated testing. The train control system implemented was Enhanced-Automatic Train Control (E-ATC), which included 24 control points, 29 new crossing warning systems, 15 onboard train control sets, and upgrading 34 existing crossing warning systems. The MRS scope included designing, furnishing, installing, testing, and commissioning the communications backbone (CTS), Train Dispatch Software (TDX) system, VOIP telephones, and CCTV. Additionally, the CCTV system employs critical analytics to detect tunnel intrusions and to safely interlock the operation of a bridge.
