This contract involved designing and installing signaling and communications systems for a 2.2-mile extension of SMART's system. The project included interim improvements to the Bettini Transit Center in San Rafael, the addition of a new station in Larkspur near the ferry terminal, 4 at-grade roadway crossings with signals and crossing equipment, refurbishing one existing railroad trestle bridge, and replacing two other bridges.
MRS was responsible for all systems design, installation, and testing to deliver a fully functional signal and Positive Train Control (PTC) system, utilizing Enhanced Automatic Train Control (E-ATC). Additionally, MRS provided all station communications, ensuring comprehensive connectivity and operational efficiency for the new extension.
