The Lynx Blue Line Extension (BLE) was a 9.3-mile light rail extension connecting with the existing Blue Line at the 7th Street Station in Center City, Charlotte, creating an 18.6-mile North/South rapid transit line. The BLE project also included retrofitting the existing Blue Line for capacity expansion.
The project featured constructing 11 new light rail stations, 20 at-grade crossings, and 11 grade separation structures over or under roads, railroads, and environmental features. MRS was responsible for designing, furnishing, and installing the signal and communications systems. The communications systems included a new headend for train control (TDX), SCADA, CCTV, and PA/VMS. MRS also provided all communications design and equipment, including CCTV, telephones, houses, CTS, and PA/VMS.
