This CM/CG project involved extending SANDAG’s Blue Line, adding 11 miles north from the current Old Town station to the University of California’s San Diego Campus. The work encompassed stations, bridges, utilities, roadwork, traction power, Overhead Catenary System (OCS), railroad coordination, retaining walls, testing, and startup activities.
MRS was awarded the contract for signals, communications, OCS, and the coordination of 13 new traction power substations along with the rehabilitation of two existing substations. Our scope included designing, procuring, and installing 42 signal cases, over 450 OCS poles, and communications systems for nine new stations (four at-grade and five elevated stations). Additionally, MRS was responsible for procuring and testing the communications systems for the new stations and procuring train control vital networking equipment.
This comprehensive project highlights MRS' capability to deliver complex infrastructure upgrades, ensuring the seamless extension and enhanced functionality of the Blue Line.
