Updating a critical bus route in Los Angeles.
Updating a critical bus route in Los Angeles.
The LACMTA G Line (formerly Orange Line) is a dedicated bus route with the highest ridership in the San Fernando Valley. It runs from the North Hollywood B Line Station to the Chatsworth Metrolink Station and will connect to the future East San Fernando Valley Light Rail.
The G Line BRT Improvements Project aims to enhance the existing Bus Rapid Transit system by reducing travel times by an average of 29% and increasing capacity by approximately 39%. The project will also introduce zero-emission buses (ZEB), making it one of the largest ZEB BRT routes in the country.
During construction, bus operations will continue via a detour while the Project Team builds a new aerial station at Van Nuys Blvd and an overpass at Sepulveda Blvd. Railroad-style four-quadrant crossing gates at 13 intersections east of Van Nuys Blvd will be designed and constructed along with traffic signal reservicing at all other intersections along the G Line alignment. The project also includes three grade-separated bridges, further improving safety and efficiency.
