Overview
Modern Railway Systems (MRS) has successfully executed 3 on-call contracts with UTA, providing pre-construction services, construction management, and ongoing maintenance support for UTA’s expanding transit system. This work supported both light rail and commuter rail operations and included SCADA software and network maintenance services across the network.
Scope of Work
We delivered a wide range of services to meet the evolving needs of the UTA network. Key projects included:
The project was tremendously successful, with the team completing over 60 task orders within three years of the second contract. These tasks included Maintenance-of-Way technical support, signal-design services, overhead catenary maintenance and monitoring, and traction power substation troubleshooting and commissioning. At its peak, MRS coordinated over 30 active systems-related task orders from concept to completion.
Impact
These comprehensive upgrades improved system reliability, operational efficiency, and capacity across UTA’s network, driving revenue growth beyond UTA’s forecasts. The program proved highly valuable to both UTA and the riding public, strengthening the long-term performance of the transit system. MRS continued to support UTA through ongoing project coordination, OCS maintenance and repair, signal system support, emergency services, and FRA testing assistance.
